A Victron MultiPlus-II with LCD and GX functionality
The MultiPlus-II GX integrates a MultiPlus-II inverter/charger and a GX device with a 2 x 16 character display.
Display and Wi-Fi
The display reads battery, inverter and solar charge controller parameters.
The same parameters can be accessed with a smartphone or other Wi-Fi enabled device.
GX device
The integrated GX device includes:
• A BMS-Can interface. This can be used to connect to a compatible CAN-bus managed battery. Note that this not a
VE.Can compatible port.
• A USB port.
• A Ethernet port.
• A VE.Direct port.
Applications
The MultiPlus-II GX is intended for applications where additional interfacing with other products and/or remote
monitoring is required, such as on-grid or off-grid energy storage systems and certain mobile applications.
Parallel and three phase operation
Only one GX unit is needed in case of Parallel and three phase operation.
A MultiPlus, plus ESS (Energy Storage System) functionality
The Victron MultiPlus-II combines the functions of the MultiPlus and the MultiGrid. It has all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current sensor option which extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist function to 32A. It also has all the features of the MultiGrid with built-in anti-islanding and an increasingly long list of country approvals.
PowerControl and PowerAssist – Boosting the capacity of grid or generator power
A maximum generator or grid current can be set. The Multi will then take account of other AC loads and use whatever is extra for battery charging, thus preventing the generator or grid from being overloaded (PowerControl function).
PowerAssist takes the principle of PowerControl to a further dimension. Where peak power is so often required only for a limited period, the Victron MultiPlus-II will compensate insufficient generator, shore or grid power with power from the battery. When the load reduces, the spare power is used to recharge the battery.
ESS: Energy Storage Systems
The Victron MultiPlus-II can be used in off grid as well as grid connected PV and other alternative energy systems. Several system configurations are possible, for more detailed information see the ESS Design and configuration manual.
On-site monitoring and control
Several options are available: Battery Monitor, Digital Multi Control Panel, Color Control Panel, Bluetooth (Venus GX or Color Control panel needed), laptop or computer.
Two AC Outputs
The main output has no break functionality. The MultiPlus-II takes over the supply to the connected loads in the event of a grid failure or when shore/generator power is disconnected. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.
The second output is live only when AC is available on the input of the MultiPlus-II. Loads that should not discharge the battery, like a water heater for example, can be connected to this output.
Uninterrupted AC power (UPS function)
In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the Multi is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.
Remote Monitoring and Control
When coupled with a GX device (e.g. Cerbo GX) you can monitor and control your Multi and system or systems’ locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app and free VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, from adjusting your Multi to auto starting a backup generator and more.
